Chau Chau Sunchales

Hola Hola!!!!

Well, to start off, thanks you all so much for your prayers this week because we saw miracles. I'll start with the family of four!!! It took a lot of faith and diligence and repentance, but we found them!! On Mondays it's P-day and we don’t have that much time to work because we go to Hnos Hohermuth for a meeting at 7. But we had an extra 30 minutes to contact before. We were trying to think of which street to contact and I thought of Belgrano. Me and Hna Sanders had just recently contacted that before she left so I brushed it aside. But then immediately I remembered that President Zanni told me in my interview to not worry about re-contacting people again so I thought, why not!! We made our way over to the street. The first few houses we were rejected and then finally a girl opened the door and immediately let us in! We entered the house and sat down at the table with a mom and her two daughters. They told us all about their great faith and how they know Jesus is the Savior and He lives. We were so happy! I looked at her finger and she was wearing a ring, but told us that she had been separated and I thought nothing of it. But then a man walked in the house and she said, ''This is my husband''!!!!! No one is ever married here but they are!! We had been praying to find a family of four, where the parents are married and they have two children and we found them!!!! We didn’t have too much time with them, but we invited them to read the restoration pamphlet and we set up an appointment for Friday. We were so surprised at how fast our prayers had been answered but the entire week we were praying for them to be the family, that they would read, and that on Friday we could invite them to be baptized. We went back, and one of the daughters accepted a baptismal date and the mom and other daughter are praying to know if they should be baptized. But it was a miracle! I know that prayers are answered and that when we make a ''pact'' or deal with the Lord, if we keep our part, He will always keep His.

But, now I have the sad news that I am leaving Sunchales so I won't get to see their progression, but I know that the Lord will help them and Hermana Nelson so that they find the truth. I am going to a city called Paraná and all I can think of is the quote from Darla in Finding Nemo, ''I'm a parana, they’re in the amazon'' hahaha so funny! But I was called to be the new sister training leader. I'm kind of freaking out a little because I feel unprepared and nervous, but at the same time I am so excited and ready to help the other sisters in the mission! There are four in the whole mission, two up north, and two down south. So I will have lots of divisions each week and lots of work to do. But bring it on!! Once again, Ether 12:27 is the theme of my life. I'm going to need to be really humble and faithful so that Heavenly Father takes my weaknesses and makes them strengths (;

So, lots happened this week, but that was the highlight! I'm going to miss this place. It really humbled me and made me learn how to truly trust in the Lord. I know that I am nothing now haha.

Argentine funnies (: The people mop their sidewalks out front, we have to clap outside their doors instead of enter the gates and knock, they eat cough drops as candy (just like I did before so I fit right in haha), no one obeys the traffic rules and so when you are at a stoplight or stop sign, you gotta check each direction about 50 times to make sure it's really okay to cross the street. I've probably said a few of these before, but I can’t remember. But I love it here and am enjoying every piece and moment. Last night in my prayers I asked if I did all I was needed to do here in Sunchales and felt so much peace. It was really hard but I know that Heavenly Father is proud of my work, and that is all that matters. I love that He really listens to our prayers and I know that we can ask Him anything, and if it is specific, he will specifically answer us right back. Be specific and pray always!! Love you all so much!!<3<3 Have a great week and smile and share the gospel with everyone. It really is true.

Hola from Sunchales

Holaa (:

        ¿Como estan? (: I'm doing great!! This week was a really hard one, but we made it through. It gave me a lot of time to think about the scripture in Ether 12:6. That after the trial of our faith, we will see the blessings. I really have come to know in the mission, that with faith in God and patience and trust in His plan, everything works out for the best and in His own timing. Maybe our investigators aren't keeping their commitments or we can't find a lot of new people, but the Lord knows why, and if we keep going forward, He will bless us for our sacrifices and efforts.
        On Monday, we were in Rafaela for a zone P-day and meeting. We played a tournament of a game called Paddle (it's like tennis and ping pong) but I lost all three games I played...nothing has changed (; It reminded me of when I quit taking tennis lessons because Kelly was better than me haha. But it was a lot of fun. We also watched Rio 2 and it was super funny. In the meeting we learned a lot about how to plan better, and this week we really saw the blessings of that. Even though we couldn’t teach as much as usual, we were able to be in the places where the Lord needed us to be.
        We focused the whole week on inviting everyone to church and being more bold. It was so great in the lessons and the people committed to come and they felt the spirit testify to them, but then no one came again on Sunday. So it was a little hard, yesterday. I was trying so hard to keep it all in and be strong for my comp, but then when we made brownies and they burnt...that was the last thing and I started to cry. Hahaha now I can laugh about it haha.
        Carolina was great this week! We stopped by and asked if she read. She looked so confused and said she didn't really understand. We asked her what she read, and she opened to Alma 58 which talks about the Nephites and Lamanites in war hahaha. Her 2 year old daughter switched the pages and she read that instead of 2 Nephi 2 (: But she told us she is afraid of praying about Joseph Smith because he is something new. We tried to explain the Restoration of Christ's church again, and she committed to praying. They really feel peace when we come by, we just have to help them recognize that that is the spirit telling them it is true. We shared Moroni 10:5 that the spirit only testifies of the truth, and they wouldn't feel like this if it was a lie. So we are praying that she will pray and receive and recognize her answer.
        Sylvana didn't come to church again. We don’t know why, but we are going to stop by today and ask what's up. She tells us she is waiting for her answer, but she will not receive an answer if she isn't reading or coming to church. So we need to see what she wants and where her desires are. We really have to do this with a lot of people this week. I really hope they all understand and decide to keep going forward, but we might need to look for a lot more new investigators as well.
        We had interviews with President Zanni on Tuesday and he asked me what he can do to help me. I told him I am trying all I can to finish the mission strong, and I asked what he did. He told me baptized weekly and then taught me how. Every week we need to make a ''contract'' with God and tell him what we want to find, what we are going to do, what we are going to sacrifice, and then He will promise us to bless us with that. So this week we are sacrificing a few things to be even more obedient and are asking to find a family of 4 where the parents are married and have 2 children that are looking for the gospel and will be ready for baptism in 4 weeks. It's like the brother of Jared. He went to the Lord with the stones and the Lord touched them and made them light up. I know that with our sacrifices and faith and our desires to find this family, the Lord will keep His part. We felt the spirit tesify to us that it will happen. It’s up to us now, because the Lord always keeps His promises. It's us who are imperfect. But we are going to work really hard so that we can find this family this week. But then we need to be finding people or families like this every week so that soon, we can baptize every week. He told me that it might take a little time, but he promised me that it works and that it is possible because everything is possible with God. Moroni 7:33, we just need faith. So I am really excited!! And I can help Hna Nelson learn how to do it too, so that the rest of her mission she can have so much success in bringing others unto Christ.
        I love the mission and am so grateful everyday for the opportunity I have to serve the Lord. It is hard, and maybe we do cry a little (; but it is worth it and the Lord is here with us every step of the way. Love you all so much!! Have a great week and have faith in the Lord. He is always willing to bless us with our desires if we will but ask him in faith.

Hermana Moberly

Here Comes the Sun

Holaaaaaaaa!!!!! (:(:

Well, since last week was so lame, I have plenty to catch you all up on and lots of funny stories too!! I'll start with the people. My people (:

So we found out that we are getting a capilla (we can rent a house for a chapel instead of use the grandparents club)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOOHOO!!! We have all been praying and working so hard for this! So now, we are trying even harder to rescue some of the menos activos, especially the men who have the Melchizedek Priesthood. So lots of invitations and rejections. Haha. But we just need to keep trying and sooner or later they will soften their hearts. Sylvana told us our last lesson with her was so great that she no longer has doubts about baptism. She is still praying, but said that she is now actually thinking about it. We shared with her a talk from Elder Bednar, Spirit of Revelation, and talked about the different type of answers we receive and how the Lord answers us through His spirit. She loved it!

We did service for a less active lady, Carmen. We mopped her floors. But here, they use a squeegee and a wet towel and just push it around. She just handed us the stuff and walked away. We both looked at each other and started laughing because I have no idea what to do with it. SO I just put the towel on the floor and start moving it around, because what else am I supposed to do? Carmen came in and just starts laughing and then takes a picture because she said I was doing it wrong. She fixed it, but it was basically the same thing I was doing...haha but now I can say I know how to mop two different ways. Talent!! The things you learn on the mission (;

WE also visited another less active, Jose and his family. It was a great lesson! We shared 1 Nefi 16:28 about when they were traveling through the wilderness and the liahona, or compass, was guiding them, but it only worked by faith. Then we shared 1 Nefi 18:12-13 about how they lost faith on the boat and the compass stopped working and they were in a storm and needed to be humbled. We compared it to the spirit and prophets. When we have faith and pay attention to the things they tell us, we will never be lost. But as soon as we stop doing the little things and lose faith, we have no guidance. We then asked them if they would pray together as a family, and he told us no!!! So we had an awesome lesson and then he said that. It was really sad so we just testified and then left. We just have to do our part and then the rest is up to them.

Carolina and Pablo are doing so great! They didn't have time to read last week and felt so bad when we stopped by! We taught them the Plan of Salvation. I have pictures to help me teach it, I'll attach the pic, but the dad is kind of chubby and Pablo is too. Pablo thought we made them for his family and started joking that I drew him chubby on purpose! But I've had these pics for my whole mission!! haha It was just funny! He told us after that each time when we leave, he feels so peaceful and feels the need to run over to the church and repent and promise God he will change haha. So at least they are feeling the spirit and have the desire to change. Joana (the recent convert) is changing so much still and she tells us all the time how happy she feels when she reads and can feel the spirit!! She is so special!!

So, once again, Hermana Hohermuth made jello, but this time she put vegetables in it...gross!!! In Spanish, laying on of hands is inposición de manos, so to Hna Nelson I was telling her in English that after baptism, to receive the Holy Ghost we need the imposition of mans....my spanglish is terrible!! No one will be able to understand me haha. Here, to say hi to people, they give you a kiss on the cheek. Even the boys. So all the time we have to tell the boys we can’t and then give them our hands to shake. haha but poor Hna Nelson doesn’t know how to say that very well, and the boys always go for her first and she just pushes back and doesn’t say anything, and the boys keep leaning in until I say something hahaha it’s so funny!! So here is my joke for the day! In Spanish to say I ran, it's yo corrí. So I asked Hna Nelson, ''Hna, how do you say I ran?'' and she said ''Yo corrí'' and then I said, ''No, YO Cory'' hahahah hopefully you understood that, its so funny in real life....

Well, that’s about it I think. We are working hard. We need our investigators to come to church, but they still don't understand. This week we are going to teach them comparing the Sabbath day to a plane. Every 30 mins planes are auto corrected to be put back on their path. If they go even 1 degree off the path, eventually they will be far from their destination, so they need the auto correct to put them where they need to go. The same is with us. We need to go to church every week to be put back on the path. Each week we go slightly off and if we miss church, who knows where we will end up in the end. I know that going to church every week is so important and that Heavenly Father really does bless us when we take a few hours out of our Sundays to go up to His house and worship him. Don't ever miss a Sunday of church, because we all need to be auto corrected and put back on the right path to return back to our Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ.

Love you all so much!! Have a great week<3<3

Sunchales, August 2014

Hola (:

I have zeroooo time today, all of the computers yesterday were busy and then we lost internet service, so I have about fifteen minutes right now to tell you everything, and there's a lot!

We were challenged by our mission president to teach more. If we teach more, we can find more people who need to hear the gospel. SO that's what we did. We are trying to look for every opportunity we possibly can to teach people, in the streets, in their doorways, etc. We taught 19 lessons this last week, the most I ever have here in Sunchales. It's so hard to teach a lot here because the people usually don't want to listen, but we prayed with a lot of faith, and Heavenly Father led us to people who really wanted to listen. We saw a lot of miracles.

I only have time to tell you a few stories, but we met with the familia Rojas. They are Catholic, but are all reading the Book of Mormon and invited us to keep coming back to teach the whole family. They listen with desires and are going to pray to know if joseph Smith was a true prophet and really restored the Church of Jesus Christ. Please pray that they will receive their answer!

We also met with Carolina and Pablo again. THIS FAMILY IS AMAZING!! They have so many questions and really are looking for the truth. Pablo told us that he has never prayed a lot because he doesn't really feel like it does anything. He said when he prays, it is only for himself, not for his wife or kids, nothing. So we asked him to pray at the end of the lesson, and he accepted! He said ''Heavenly Father, on the first of august, this Friday night”..?? haha and then he prayed for his family, that they would be protected and blessed, that we would be able to speak the language and find more people to teach, etc. It was one of the most sincere prayers I have heard someone give. It was so special. And when he finished, he shook his whole body and said, ''WOAH! That feels great! I’m going to keep praying'' haha. SO they are progressing a lot and are really special to us. They are going to start coming to church and praying to know if the church is true as well.

We have been praying to find families so that the Sunchales branch can grow and be more steady. Our prayers are being answered and we are seeing so many miracles each day.

Sylvana and Elvira are still waiting for an answer to their prayers whether they should be baptized or not, so we are really trying to help them learn how to recognize the spirit when it answers us. We talked about how Satan will always attack us after we receive an answer because he doesn’t want us to find the way back to God. And baptism is the first step.

We are working really hard and are trying to help the branch become more strong and faithful. We are teaching a lot and having to trust a lot in the spirit so that we are led to the people who need us most.

Theme for this week: Don’t stop doing the little things. Read. Pray. And go to church. These small and simple things will help us in every aspect of our lives. We see people every day who stop doing the simple commandments and that is when they let their guard down, the trials are harder to support, and Satan has more of a chance to attack us and bring us down. Keep going and endure to the end.

Love you all so much!! Hope you have a great week and remember to trust in God always. His plan is always better than ours. <3

Con amor,

Hermana Moberly
