Hola Otraaaa Vez!

April 28, 2014

Hola Otraaaa Vez (:...that means hello again!

So basically, this last week was full of miracles, happiness, rainbows, and butterflies minus the rainbows and butterflies!!! But, I'll start at the beginning.

TUES: Hermana Arias was so sad to leave and so we finished P-day early to say goodbye to everyone, and one of the less actives invited us in for a BBQ dinner...SO YUMMY!! Hna Arias had to pack and clean so we went to bed about 12:30 AM and had to get up at 2:15 AM to get ready and go to Rosario. We called that night for the taxi to come at 3:30 the next morning so everything would be all taken care of. I was super sick with a cold and super tired, so I took a Benadryl so I could be good for when I met my new companion....BAD IDEA!!!

WEDS: So we were knocked out and at 3:30 AM Hna Arias woke up (that was a miracle) and shouted ''IT'S 3:30!'' So she ran into the shower and I ironed her clothes. We were out of the house at 3:46 and the taxi was luckily still there. We got ready in the bus that left at 4:10....CRAZY morning!!!! And I still felt super sick. We got to the Rosario terminal and I had to leave right away for the mission house, so I quickly said goodbye to Hna Arias and then ran into another taxi. Two of the Elders from my MTC district were there also training and I haven't seen them in 11 months so that was super fun!! (: There were 2 sisters from the states, and 4 latinos and I really didn't care which would be my companion! So after the meetings and training we finally were going to get our trainees and we had a drumroll and everything and I was the first one!! My companion is Hna Sanders and she is from VALENCIA, CALIFORNIA!!!! All I know about Valencia is that that is where Six Flags is (: But she is super sweet, fun, and we get along SOOO great! She is literally the miracle I have been praying for in these last few weeks of trials. So don't give up, because Heavenly Father really answers our prayers in His right timing! Hna Sanders went to LDS Business College for a semester before and is 19 yrs old.

THURS: One of our investigators got a blessing for her health and then we invited her to be baptized! Her name is Maria. She is 80 yrs old and lives with her ''husband'' (not married) who is 54 yrs old...

FRI: This was an AWESOME day! So Thursday we were contacting, and met the radio man for Sunchales and he asked us to come in Friday. SO we went with Hnos. Hohermuth and got to talk on the radio for 30 minutes about what we do, what we believe, etc and it was so much fun!!!! I talked mostly the whole time and they asked alllll sorts of questions (: Then that night we met a couple who listened and so we taught them and now they are new’s! (: So cool, right!?

SAT: We invited (Hna Sanders) Silvia to be baptized and she said yes too! (:

SUN: I taught Gospel Principles, Silvia went to church again, and we had 16 PEOPLE IN CHURCH!!!! (: I think that has been the most since I got here. So everything is changing and progressing and I am so happy here!

My poor companion came in the week where we have no money or food so we have been scraping by each day, but we finally received our money today! We had to use it all to travel to Rosario earlier, but now we actually have something other than rice and tomatos haha. She is getting eaten to death by the mosquitos. We didn't have hot water until this morning (my fault...I forgot I turned down the water heater hahaha). Great welcoming to Argentina (: But we have goals to work really hard and be the best missionaries we can be, so that the Lord will trust us and help us in this wonderful work! Love you all so much! Remember that the Lord loves us and that we were trained before this life. We were among the noble and great ones and we are here for a purpose! D&C 138: 55-56. Have a great week!!

Hola Mis Amigos, Still in Sunchales

April 22, 2014

Hola a todos mis amigos!! (:
Wow! Today is my 11 month mark and I can't believe how fast it has gone by. Hopefully the rest is super slow! Well...this last week was fullllll of walking! Sunchales is a city of 9 barrios (or sections), and we decided to finally go to one we hadn't been to in about a month. It takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes to walk there and it's all dirt roads and cows and horses and grass. Haha you get the picture! It smells really great (; So we went there and just contacted door to door and tried to meet the people, ask if we could share our message with them or serve them in any way. Luckily, this week was Semana Santa(Holy Week) and when we said we had a message about Jesus Christ and His gospel, lots of people wanted to listen because they were already celebrating His life and resurrection. So we were able to teach a lot more this last week! We invited about 4 people to be baptized, and only one accepted a date. But still that's one person who wants to follow the example of Jesus Christ! Her name is Romina and, first, we need to have a wedding because she isn't married to her boyfriend. But she is really great and LOVES the Book of Mormon! We are planning for the 24th of May!
Silvia went to church with us again this Sunday and it was all about baptism! So we are going to help her prepare too. She really wants to get baptized, but first she has to divorce her ex-husband, marry her boyfriend that lives with her right now, and he has to find his identity card...lots of problems and obstacles haha. But we are praying for miracles and will keep trying to help them in all that we can.
We have an investigator, Eliana, but this week she wasn't there so we taught her mom and invited her to be baptized. She wants to, but said she will pray to know if it is true before accepting a date. So another person to add to your prayers if you can, please! (:
On Friday we only contacted the whole day because the last Sunday we fasted as a zone to find one person who is ready to be baptized and we met so many amazing people! Lots of miracles happened. We are going to go back this week and teach them again!
Last night I received a call that Hna. Arias was going to leave and I am going to train this transfer! I'm really nervous but excited too. I get to go back to Rosario tomorrow and will get my new companion. I'll let you know all about her next week!
Funny things: we literally had a dog come to church with us a few weeks ago. Not only are we teaching them, but they even come to church with us! (: In the terminal to leave from Sunchales, there is a painting of a flying cow (I sent the picture). I can't remember the other funny thing I was going to tell you. I'll send it next week! Love you all so much!!!! Thanks for everything and remember to always confide and trust in Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. <3

Sunchales, Easter Week April 2014

April 14, 2014

Hola (:

Hmm....nothing really happened this week. The cold came and it's FREEZING! Especially at night when we are walking around trying to find people to teach and no one wants to listen! For some reason, it was our week to be rejected, but thank goodness for all of the General Conference talks, we were able to be grateful and have the faith to keep walking! Last night to end the day, we knocked on a door and a really sweet girl came out to talk to us. We introduced ourselves and then she told us she wasn't interested (which is what everyone says), so we kept talking and I finally asked her if she believed in God. She said no. We testified that we know there is a God and we are His daughters/children, and He loves us. I offered her a pamphlet to read to try and help her understand the plan that God has for us all. And you know what she told me? She said, ''You can give it to me if you want, but I'm not going to read it. In fact, I would love to use it for my barbeque!'' Yeah, that's how our night finished. It's really sad to meet people who don't believe in God and are so blinded. We tried everything we could to help her, but it's her decision. The mission is really rough, but I love testifying to the people what I KNOW is true. Hopefully one day they get another chance to accept it. That's why it's so important to talk to everyone, because you never know if it is finally their chance to accept the great gospel of Jesus Christ!

We had one investigator come to church this week, Silvia, and she really liked it! Our gospel principles teacher didn't come, so I taught the class on how we are the covenant people of God...I was so unprepared, but what's new! (; The Holy Ghost is my best friend because it always is guiding us!

This week we have lots of plans and goals to find new people...no one we are teaching is progressing, so time to find those who will! (:

We watched the women's Conference and it was the best!!!!! I loved all of the music! So cute (:

This week is a really great opportunity for us all to remember our Savior Jesus Christ. I know you all will be off of school and work, but try to ponder on the eternal blessings of Christ's atonement and sacrifice for us all. It is ONLY through and by Him that we can all live with our Heavenly Father again!! Happy Easter and eat some chocolate for me! The chocolate bunnies here are almost 100 pesos...I wish I had 100 pesos haha

Love you all so much! Thanks for everything! Keep praying and moving forward! God hears and answers our prayers! Be grateful for the gospel in your lives and share it with others! <3

Hola Mis Amigos From Sunchales

Hola Mis Amigos!! (:

Where to begin!? All the days are all jumbled together...but I'll start with the most important! CONFERENCE!!

I watched it all in Spanish...and understood almost all of it, at least I'm improving (: The hardest part is that each translator changes and is from a different country so I have to readjust to their accent every time, but the spirit is the same! The people who spoke are inspired servants of God and the words they shared are exactly what Heavenly Father wants us all to learn, meditate, and apply. Now we just have to study them again and try to be better. My favorite talks were Elder Bednar's about how when in times of trial, the Lord ALWAYS hears our cries, but with faith and time, they will be lifted. But not completely lifted, the Lord will HELP us, which means we still have to carry a part of the load. LOVED THIS!! Also, I loved the talk about the Olympics and how we all prepared before this life, and now we are in the race. It's only 3 minutes long, are we going to throw away all of our preparation and efforts, or are we going to push through to the end and win the medal? So powerful! It's perfect for the people we are teaching here!

We got to watch Saturday morning, and all of Sunday but we are trying to make a CD to watch Saturday afternoon in the house. We will watch the Women's Conference next Sunday. Yesterday rained allllllllllll day and never stopped so no one wanted to leave their house and come to watch conference with us ):

This week we had another branch activity and finished making our Easter eggs. We also watched a bible video about the Resurrection of Christ. The new bible videos are the best ever!! You should watch them, the spirit testifies so clearly the Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God and that He lives. This is His church and I am sooo grateful to be a part of it and be His servant for this short time in my life. But we can all be servants, we don’t need a name tag. Share your testimonies of  Christ's love for you with everyone! They need to know that He can save and heal them too. This week we had an asado (BBQ) and I thought I was going to die walking home afterwards...we ate SO much!!

We found an Awesome couple on Wednesday and taught them the Restoration (my favorite lesson to teach!) and are going to stop by again this week to see if they were able to pray about the message we shared and read the introduction of the Book of Mormon. The Book of Mormon is the best!! I love studying it every day.  I have never learned so much about my savior as when I read the words of His as they prophets testify of Him.

We are having a realllllly rough time helping our investigators progress right now. We don't know what else we can do for them, but we are praying for a lot of guidance because the rest is up to them! We can do everything in our hands, but they still have the opportunity to choose if they want to accept it or not.

On Saturday on our way to conference, we pushed a member, Angel, in his wheelchair all the way to the Hohermuth's house and it was SOOOO hot and it was uphill hahaha. Then on Friday night a cat climbed into our window and I was so tired and barely awake, but I felt it walking on me, then I watched it climb over to my companion's bed and she screamed and pushed the cat off which woke me up the rest of the way! Hahaha I then had to chase it out of the bathroom back to the window to leave....just some funny stories for you all to enjoy!

Love you all so much! Hope you could all listen to our prophet speak. He is the Lord's servant to lead and guide us. Listen to his words and now go and do like Nephi teaches us to do! (:

Con mucho amor
